Global clean energy company BayWa re publicly announced a partnership with European solar technology company Meyer Burger to source high-performance solar panels from its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Arizona. This joint effort aims to become another strong force to drive continuous domestic production, create local jobs and promote a sustainable solar industry within the framework of the Inflation Reduction Law and decreasing dependence on China’s solar supply chain.
The partnership aims to increase Meyer Burger’s annual module production capacity in Goodyear from 1.6 GW to approx. 2 GW and to create more than 500 skilled jobs in manufacturing.

According to the purchase agreement, BayWa re undertakes to purchase 1.25 GW of modules from the Meyer Burger site in Goodyear over a period of five years. In addition, BayWa re has made a long-term (from 2025 to 2029) commitment to ensure a continuous supply of domestically produced solar modules for its extensive solar project pipeline of more than 9 GW across the country.
Meyer Burger was founded in Switzerland in 1953. Its development and production sites as well as sales offices extend over several continents. The proprietary heterojunction/SmartWire Technology enables them to set new industry standards in terms of energy yield.
Meyer Burger is nearing completion of a 2GW production site. Ardes Johnson, President of Meyer Burger Americas, commented on the partnership:
As a result, we are able to offer pollution-free, high-performance solar modules manufactured according to the highest ethical and social standards, which are state-of-the-art and achieve very high yields due to their outstanding durability.
“At BayWa re, we strive to leverage our decades of experience deploying clean energy around the world to drive local economic growth with domestically manufactured equipment,” said Geoff Fallon, COO at BayWa re Solar Projects LLC.
