BayWa re, the leading developer, service provider and system provider for renewable energy, announced that it has entered into a partnership with the pioneer of professional solar shipping solutions, PVpallet, to distribute its shipping solution for reusable solar modules.

The flagship product PVpallet Series X is now available from the BayWa re subsidiary BayWa re Solar Systems LLC. It is believed to be the first reusable, recyclable and collapsible pallet of its kind specifically designed for solar panels.

PVpallets are made from waste paper HDPE plastic with steel-reinforced floor and plastic side walls to protect the solar modules during transport. The outer walls can be adapted to different module sizes. In addition, walls fold down and pallets stack to facilitate return shipping and maximize storage space. PVpallets enable improved efficiency and waste reduction throughout the solar supply chain, including manufacturing, distribution, installation, decommissioning and recycling, warehousing and construction waste disposal.

From an environmental point of view, the main advantage of PV pallets is that they replace traditional wooden pallets and reduce waste – which is often the case an underestimated aspect on the way to maximum decarbonization in the solar industry.
