Upon arrival from COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, Sungrow and its local partner Arab Consulting Office (ACO) officially announced the delivery of a package of solar projects in this host city, A total of over 80 GWh of clean electricity is generated and around 55,000 tons of CO2 emissions are saved each year.
Ahead of hosting COP27, the Egyptian government had already put in place a number of initiatives and measures to show official determination and support to mitigate climate change. The move to clean energy is positioned as a critical step on the road to design. The government has brought together many players in the renewable energy field to build these milestone solar projects, including the largest solar plant in Sharm El-Sheikh with a capacity of 20 MW. These projects will supply various business, transportation and tourism facilities that will provide services during COP27 and help transform Sharm El-Sheikh into a green city.

Sungrow acts as a supplier of solar inverters for these projects. It uses its industry-leading SG110CX commercial inverter, which offers higher energy harvesting with MPPT techniques and excellent compatibility with bifacial modules. In addition, this inverter meets IP66 and C5 anti-corrosion standards and integrates the AFCI safety function, which ensures high reliability in long-term operation in the hot and dry climate of Egypt.
By capitalizing on the far-reaching impact of COP27, these solar projects can accelerate the energy transition process in Egypt. And Egypt has become a significant market for Sungrow in recent years.
After its completion, Sungrow reached a total of 500 MW installations there, occupying a dominant market share. In order to strategize the bright market in Egypt and North Africa region, Sungrow offers a comprehensive portfolio of products that can be distributed nationwide through our trusted distributors such as Arab Consulting Office. We also own a mature team ready to serve and offer professional guidance. These benefits will help us achieve more milestones in the near future.
—said Moustafa Mohamed, Director of North Africa Region at Sungrow.
Other major participants in these solar projects are ENI, Hassan Allam Utilities, TAQA Arabia, Intro Sustainable Resources, Gila-AlTawakol Electric, etc.
Sungrow has also been in the spotlight at several major energy events recently. It only got there last month 3 GW distribution contracts of inverters and over 600 MWh BESS contracts with several reputable players in Australia’s renewable energy space during All Energy Australia, which is expected to help the country complete several milestone projects within 2-3 years.
