RWE Renewables Iberia, a subsidiary of the RWE Group for the Spanish market, has commissioned a 44 MWac solar power plant in the province of Guadalajara near the capital Madrid. The Casa Valdes solar system is an open-space PV project that can supply around 30,000 Spanish households with solar power every year.
Covering approximately 97 hectares, the Casa Valdes project integrates 97,740 high-performance dual-faced solar panels, allowing the panel arrays to capture and convert sunlight from both sides, promoting greater power generation.

RWE also uses bifacial modules for its Puerta del Sol (near Casa Valdes) and Las Vaguadas (in Badajoz province) projects under construction, with a total capacity of 54 MWac.
With the commissioning of Casa Valdes, RWE is making a contribution to achieving the Spanish climate goals. The Spanish sun is a great partner in the energy transition. And innovative technologies like the bifacial panels used at Casa Valdes help us get the most out of this energy source and this location.
— said Katja Wunschel, CEO of Onshore Wind and Solar Europe & Australia at RWE Renewables.
RWE Renewables Iberia has a strong presence in the renewable energy sector in Spain with many years of construction and operational experience. The company currently operates a solar capacity of more than 90 MWac in Spain.
RWE Renewables Iberia is also preparing and adapting solar and wind projects in its existing development pipeline to compete in the “Concurso de Capacidad”, the Spanish tenders for access to electricity transmission grid capacity.
