SolarEdge announced that it will be showcasing two new power optimizers at Intersolar 2023, taking place June 14-16 in Munich, Germany.
The small, lightweight 2:1 S1400 Power Optimizer was developed for the C&I segment. It is specially designed for high input bifacial and high power 700W modules including G12 modules. The new architecture offers higher power density from a smaller package while maintaining optimal thermal performance. This allows the PV system to be designed with fewer yet more powerful strings, resulting in a typical 30% reduction in DC BoS costs, according to the company.
Another new product, the S500A Power Optimizer, is used for short residential strings. The optimizer enables cost-effective design of smaller rooftop systems with higher power modules. It can be used in systems with as few as six modules using the three-phase SolarEdge Home Short String inverter and the single-phase SolarEdge Home Wave/Hub inverter, or in systems with ten modules using any three-phase SolarEdge Home residential inverter.
Both new performance optimizers This includes the multi-layered security features of SolarEdge. These include AFCI features supported in most SolarEdge inverters and SolarEdge Sense Connect, an industry-first technology that detects thermal anomalies at the connector level and stops current flow before a potential arc can occur.
These products also integrate SolarEdge’s branded SafeDC technology, which enables the DC voltage of PV systems to be automatically reduced to a safe-to-touch level during grid failures or when the inverter is switched off. In addition, the Rapid Shutdown (RSD) feature allows installers to activate SafeDC with the push of a button and discharge the conductors to a safe voltage level within 30 seconds.
The introduction of the S1400 and S500A is expected to expand the company’s offering for both residential, commercial and industrial markets.
